LAGOS IN PASSING

Being young in Lagos

Looking through these photos of Lagos brought back so many small things I had forgotten.

The Yellow Danfo buses. Sitting in traffic. Going out with family. The market stalls, the heat, the beach, the noise.

At the time, it didn't feel special. Now, looking at these photos, I keep thinking about how young I was and how much of that version of my life I miss.

Going back now surely would feel different. I know the place, but I also don’t. I’m familiar enough to feel at home and removed enough to notice things I never cared about before.

Very inconvenient identity crisis, really.
